Stage 1: focused consultation

The first visit clarifies the patient’s concern, medical history, gum condition, remaining teeth, bite and priorities. A clinical plan cannot be confirmed from a message or radiograph alone.

Stage 2: records and diagnosis

Records may include radiographs, CBCT, intraoral scans, photographs and bite information. The clinician evaluates bone, anatomy, infection, restorative space and risk before comparing implant and non-implant options.

Stage 3: prosthetic and surgical planning

The intended tooth or prosthesis is planned before implant placement. Digital planning and a surgical guide may be used when they add value, but the guide does not replace clinical checks.

Stage 4: surgery

Treatment may involve extraction, implant placement, grafting or a sinus procedure depending on the diagnosis. These steps can be combined or separated. Local findings can require a change from the preliminary plan.

Stage 5: provisional care and healing

A temporary tooth, healing prosthesis or existing denture may be used according to the case. Immediate loading is conditional on stability, biology and prosthetic design; it is not guaranteed.

Stage 6: impression, verification and final prosthesis

After the appropriate healing stage, implant positions and tissues are recorded digitally, conventionally or with a combined method. Verification of fit and bite comes before delivery of the definitive crown or full-arch prosthesis.

Stage 7: maintenance

Home cleaning and professional review begin when treatment is delivered, not when a problem appears. Tissue health, screws, bite and restorative materials need periodic assessment.

Why the calendar varies

Infection, bone grafting, sinus health, implant stability, systemic health, smoking, the number of implants and the loading plan can all change the sequence. A responsible timeline is individualized after diagnosis.
