What independent evidence says

Systematic reviews of laser-microtextured collars have reported less marginal bone loss and shallower probing depths than machined collars in several comparisons. However, reviews also report heterogeneity between studies, and they have not consistently shown a statistically significant improvement in implant survival compared with other collar surfaces. This is a promising tissue-management feature—not a guarantee.

Success rates need context

There is no scientifically honest single “BioHorizons success rate” for every patient and procedure. One meta-analysis of laser-microtextured collars reported an overall survival estimate around 97% across the included studies, while another found no significant failure-rate advantage over machined collars. Results depend on study length, indication, patient health, bone and soft tissue, loading, restoration design, hygiene and maintenance.

Regulation and global standing

BioHorizons implant systems have U.S. FDA 510(k) records for specified indications and configurations. FDA clearance, published research, a three-decade company history and international distribution are meaningful credibility signals. They should not be presented as proof that one brand is universally superior to all alternatives.

A reliable implant system gives the clinical team a validated range of implants, components and protocols. Long-term care still depends on correct diagnosis, prosthetically driven positioning, surgical execution, soft-tissue management, a cleanable restoration and regular maintenance.
